What is a Dedicated Server

A Dedicated Server is a stand alone physical machine that is dedicated to a single customer.

A dedicated server has several points of failure and is not recommended for high available applications. That is why we do not offer dedicated servers. Instead, we offer Virtual Private Servers and Virtual Dedicated Servers. In our infrastructure, both Virtual Private (commonly referred to as VPS) and Virtual Dedicated are hosted in our Highly Available private cloud with enterprise grade hardware and storage, eliminating these failure points, so that if a piece of hardware has a problem, the server is automatically moved to another piece of hardware with little or generally no down time.

Refer to the "Why is Virtual Dedicated Server better" item below for exact details on why Virtual Dedicated is better.

Why is Virtual Dedicated Server better

In our infrastructure, both Virtual Private (commonly referred to as VPS) and Virtual Dedicated are hosted in our Highly Available private cloud with enterprise grade hardware and storage, eliminating failure points found in actual physical dedicated servers, so that if a piece of hardware has a problem, the server is automatically moved to another piece of hardware with little or generally no down time.

We can custom configure a Virtual Dedicated Server with dedicated resources to match a physical server. This gives you the resources you need, but with the added benefit of high availability and enterprise grade storage, without the added expense.

Here at Hostek.com we have been providing hosting since 1998. We have many years experience with physical machines and many years experience with our private cloud utilizing virtual machines with dedicated resources. The difference is amazing and I encourage you to leverage our experience in this area. Try our virtual dedicated (VPS with dedicated resources to match your specific needs) and if you're not 100% satisfied, cancel and owe us nothing. We are confident that you will learn to love a virtual machine over a physical one.
