Upgrading DotNetNuke
This information is for upgrading the free Community Edition of DotNetNuke version 06.00.01 to version 07.00.00.
Preparing to Upgrade DotNetNuke 7.0
NOTE: It is advisable to backup all your site files and databases.
Downloading the Upgrade Package
- Go to www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Downloads.aspx and sign in, creating an account if you don't have one.
- Locate the different packages (around the middle of the page).
- Download the "Upgrade Package".
- Save to a location you will remember.
NOTE: If you haven't installed DotNetNuke on the server yet, then you can choose the "Install Package", but to upgrade you will choose to download the "Upgrade Package" link. The download will begin shortly after that.
Extracting the Files
After downloading, you will need to extract the files from the DotNetNuke_Community_07.00.00_Upgrade.zip to an empty folder.
- Create a new folder called dnnupgrade
- Extract the contents of the .zip file to dnnupgrade
Uploading the Files
After the extraction is done, you will want to upload the files to your server via FTP protocol.
- Open your favorite FTP program and connect to your server
- Navigate & Locate the folder dnnupgrade (usually done in the left window pane of your FTP program)
- In the "remote site", i.e. server, making sure you are in your wwwroot folder
- or whichever folder the "root" is for your DotNetNuke installation is located (This is the same folder as the admin folder).
- In the left "local site", i.e. your computer, select all the files in the folder dnnupgrade
- Upload & Overwrite the folders and files on the server
NOTE: All your site's FTP user information is located in the original email we sent to you when the account was set up.
