MySQL Workbench is a unified visual tool for database architects, developers, and DBAs. MySQL Workbench provides data modeling, SQL development, and comprehensive administration tools for server configuration, user administration, and much more. MySQL Workbench is available on Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
==Where can I get MySQL Workbench?==

==How do I connect to my database using MySQL Workbench? ==
Before connecting connecting to your database using MySQL Workbench, you'll have to first get the host name or the IP address of the Hostek MySQL server your database is on.

For customers using the WCP control panel:

Login to your control panel

Under Databases, Click on MySQL.

You can find the host next to the database name.

For cPanel Customers:

You should be able to use your domain name as the host. However in order to connect externally to your database with programs such as MySQL workbench you'll need to enable remote MySQL access to your database.

Login to your cPanel

Under Databases go to Remote MySQL.

If you have a specific static IP you want to grant remote access to, you can enter it here and click on "Add Host". Otherwise you can grant remote access from any IP by entering % as the host and click on Add Host.

==How to use MySQL Workbench to backup your MySQL database==
Once you have installed MySQL Workbench launch it and under the "Server Administration" click on "New Server Instance". This will pull up a new Instance wizard.

Under the "Specify the Host Machine the Database Server is running on" click on "Remote Host" and for the address put an IP of the server that your database is on.

Under the "Set the Database Connection values" screen you can leave "Connection Name" the same as the server IP or change it to something more meaningful like "My wordpress database server". Leave "Connection Method" as "Standard (TCP/IP)". Under the "Parameters" tab make sure that hostname matches the IP from the previous step. Leave port as "3306" and enter your database username. Click on "Store in Vault" and enter the password for the above user. Leave "Default Schema" empty".

Testing the connection should give you three check marks and show "Database connection tested successfully." Click on "Next".

On "Set remote configuration parameters" UNCHECK "Enable SSH login based administration" and click on "Next".

Under "Create the Instance Profile" you can use something like "My backup" and click "Finish".

After the steps above your "Workbench Central" should now have new connection listed under the "Server Administration" on the right. Click on "Manage Import / Export" link and then from the pop-up window click the instance you created earlier.

Under the "Export to Disk" tab place a check-mark next to your database name. Under "Options" to the right check "Export to Self-Contained File" and click on "Start Export".

Support for Google Apps, more specifically Google Mail is supported by changing the MX records for you're domain name in the DNS zone. While these terms may seem confusing simply stated letting the internet know that you prefer to use Google Mail as the primary mail source for my-domain-name.com. To use or continue using Google Mail or other Google Apps requiring custom DNS records, please follow this guide:

For a new domain (my-domain-name.com) not previously purchased:

Choose a hosting plan that meets you're needs, and complete our standard order process.After receiving the email from Hostek.com, containing all the details for hosting including FTP, DNS, and the MOST IMPORTANT, login details for the control panel either our Windows Control Panel (WCP) or Cpanel Control Panel.

For domains previously purchased and pointing to another hosting provider:

Before pointing you're domain name to the Hostek.com name servers complete all the steps explained here.

==Google Apps in WCP Control Panel==
To set the MX records for your domain for Google apps click on the DNS Zone editor within your WCP control panel.

Remove all current MX records by clicking on the trash can next to the MX record.

Click "Add DNS Record" button

Leave name blank (this will automatically populate with your domain name once saved)

Choose MX from the Type drop down

Paste record provided by Google

Save.

To set the MX records for your domain for Google apps click on the MX Entry icon within the Mail section in your cPanel.

Under Email Routing select Remote Mail Exchanger

To edit an error page:

1. Click the error code for the page you wish to edit.

2. Type a message into the text box. ◦ You can select certain HTML tags to be added to a custom error page. These tags will display facts on the error page about the visitor accessing your website.

Alternatively you can design these pages offline and upload them via FTP like normal pages to your public_html folder. Remember, these files must have the .shtml extension.

Here are the steps needed for iPhone Email set up to be used with the Hostek.com mail servers:

NOTE: In this example, I am using the domain name of hostek.com. Be sure to replace hostek.com with your domain name below.

First, go to Settings and turn Wi-Fi OFF (can turn on after completing all steps below)

Go to Mail, Contact, Calendars

Tap Add Account

Tap Mail Account
Enter Name, Email address, Password and Description then tap Next

Choose IMAP or POP (generally POP)

Enter Incoming Mail Server Info (see sample photo below)

- Host Name: mail.hostek.com (change hostek.com to your domain)

- username: (enter your full email address)

- password: (enter the password you assigned to this account)

Enter Outgoing Mail Server

- Host Name: mail.hostek.com (change hostek.com to your domain)

- username: (enter your full email address)

- password: (enter the password you assigned to this account)

Tap Save (iPhone will attempt to verify the account information... this can take 1-2 minutes initially)

NOTE: You may get a message about "Secure Connection Failed"... just hit Continue (you'll likely then get the same message again, related to SMTP this time)... just hit Continue again.

After the account is setup, go back into the account.

Under the Outgoing Mail Server section tap on SMTP

Under Primary Server:

Set Use SSL to OFF

Set Authentication to "Password"

Change Server Port to 26

Now tap on the Top Left email address to go back

Tap on Advanced

Set Use SSL to OFF

Change Server Port to 110 for POP3, or 143 for IMAP

That should get you the standard settings.

Recommended additional settings are:

Go into the account just created, go to Advanced

Tap on Delete from server and change to "When removed from inbox" (this will keep your mail account from getting too full).

Now you can re-enable the Wi-fi setting.
