==Firewall Options==
There are primarily two types of Firewall Options. Hardware and Software. For our hardware option, we operate multiple TopLayer IPS's which do an excellent job at mitigation. It's a stateless connection type system that traffic will pass through. In our experience it's very effective to prevent specific traffic that has no business hitting your servers.

In our VPS/Dedicated Firewall group, we do only have certain ports open that are the common ones for serving web pages and email. If you need a non-standard port to be open, you will want us to move your VPS from behind our firewall port blocking group so that you can then enable Windows Firewall and manage the firewall via the Windows Software firewall (Windows VPSs) or cPanel ConfigServer Firewall (Linux VPSs).

MIME stands for Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions. Mime types were originally designed to help email clients (using SMTP) define file formats that were being delivered to them, other protocols like HTTP took advantage of Mime Types when telling the destination computer what kind of file is being sent to them. Operating Systems automatically add these Mime Types, but many sites are using exotic extension files (like .flv for flash video) that are not always automatically added to the file types used and have to be defined.

==What is Bandwidth==
Bandwidth is the data (traffic) that is sent between the server and another device like a PC, laptop, tablet, smart phone, etc. When text (plain html) is sent back and forth, that uses very little bandwidth. However, a large high definition video will use a lot more bandwidth than a html file.

==How many Hits can my Site Receive?==
We do not limit the number of hits your site can received. However, if your site begins to cause a problem on the shared servers, we will inform you and request that you move to a VPS asap. It is really rare to encounter this problem.

We have a very generous traffic/bandwidth allowance on our plans. Over 99.9% of all sites we host would not even reach the bandwidth allowed on our lowest plan. So basically in most cases, '''you should not be concerned with bandwidth usage or hits to your site'''.

If you already know that your site usages a lot of bandwidth or gets a ton of hits, you may be best suited for a VPS. That way your site will not cause problems for others and will isolate your site giving it all of the server's resources. ==Unlimited Bandwidth - What's the catch?==
For our unlimited bandwidth plans, we do not set any arbitrary limit or cap on the amount of Traffic/Bandwidth you use. However, if a site receives so much traffic that it has a negative effect on other sites on the server, we will then throttle the bandwidth for that site. This is a very rare occurrence. Generally if a site is receiving that much traffic, the site is not suited for shared hosting and should be on a VPS or Dedicated server for optimal performance and to prevent causing problems for shared customers.

==Unmetered Bandwidth==
What is Unmetered Bandwidth? This means that your server is assigned a dedicated amount of mbps (mega bits per second) of bandwidth that only your server will use. We fully support ASP on our Windows servers. The Windows 2003 servers are running IIS 6 and the Windows 2008 servers are running IIS 7.

New Windows hosting accounts are currently setup on Windows 2008 64 bit servers running IIS 7.

We Support Visual Basic for Classic ASP as well as .NET and ASP.NET.

According to our policy we cannot install .exe or .msi files on our servers provided by customers.

The only exception we make when customers request a custom installation is when we can download the install files directly from the developers site, that developer must be established and reputable.

Problem: You receive the following error when your application attempts to use method, class, etc. from a DLL assembly in your /bin folder -

"SecurityException: That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers

Cause: We run .Net 2.0/3.5 with a modified medium trust policy for security. This requires that assemblies must specify that they allow partially trusted callers to be called from your code."

Solution -

You must add an assembly directive to your application so that it allows partially trusted callers.

If you are using C#.Net, the following line must be added to your assembly(generally in the AssemblyInfo.cs file) -

[assembly:System.Security.AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers]

If you are using VB.Net, the following line must be added to your assembly(generally in the AssemblyInfo.vb file) -

Assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers()
Surrounded by "<>" without quotes.

Once the directive has been added, you will need to recompile the DLL and upload it to your /bin folder.

Generally, this error is caused by not having a default file in a directory. You you need to have a file with one of the following names in a directory to be able to browse to that directory:

default.htm 
default.asp 
index.html 
index.php 
index.asp 
index.aspx 
index.cfm 

Generally, files named "Default" or "index", followed by the appropriate extension, will work as the default file.
