Objectives on Printer Redirection for Server

  1. Enable user’s local printers to be utilized when connected to server.
  2. Enable user’s local printers to be utilized when connected to remote web applications published through the server webpage.

Steps

  1. Remote desktop connect to server.
  2. Edit default domain controllers Group Policy.

Group Policy Edit

To configure per connection printer redirection settings on a server by using group policy

1.In the Group Policy Management Console locate the following node: Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Printer Re-directions

2.Configure the desired printer redirection settings:

a. Do not allow client printer redirection policy setting - disabled
b. Do not set default client printer to be default printer in a session policy settings – not configured
c. Use Remote Desktop Easy Print drivers first policy settings – disabled
d. Specify RD Session Host server fallback printer driver behavior policy settings – enabled (Default to the PCL if one is not found)
e. Redirect only the default client printer – not configured
